I plan to swim Lake Nipissing from the French R. (Campbells Bay) north-east to Marathon beach in North Bay, Ontario, July 14-19, 2022, 28kms. It has never been swum before. In 2020, I was foiled 3 km from shore by a freak gale with 3m waves and 65kph winds. I am fundraising for The Nipissing Trackers branch of the Nipissing Association for Disabled Youth, a volunteer-run skiing program for disabled youth. Swim is tentatively on for September 1
The winds are in a favourable direction but still a little stronger than ideal for Tuesday September 1, so we are tentatively moving forward with planning for Tuesday. It is subject to change at any time if the weather changes. Let's hope that it continues to improve.
We have had a change in Swim Master due to injury. Shelagh Freedman will be my Swim Master. She is quite knowledgeable - I taught her everything about marathon swimming when I coached her in 1993 and she successfully swam Lake Ontario.

Getting ready for the swim
I have been busy getting the logistics of the swim, the fundraising, and the equipment organized as well as doing my last few training swims.
For those of you eager to make a donation, NADY will be working on adding my swim to their website next week. So don't panic if you don't see any reference to my swim just yet. Any donations that come in this summer/early fall will also be credited to my swim. Thank you to everyone who has donated!!!
Thank you to everyone for all the good wishes.

The swim is on!
I just returned from a visit to one of my new favourite cities, North Bay, where I met with my new lead captain, Andy. Unfortunately, because of Covid-19, my previous captains had to bow out. But the Taylors have been wonderful helping me find new boats and they continue to help to organize the swim behind the scenes. Oh, and I had time for a long swim in beautiful clean Lake Nipissing. I took a picture of the beach where I hope to finish.
The swim is now scheduled for sometime during the window of September 1-5.
