Very large pod of dolphins has taken to swimming along side of Marilyn and boats.
Marilyn has covered 8 statute miles of 18.8 miles you can follow her on a tracker at https://track.rs/sbcsa_korzekwa/  She has encountered disorganized seas with waves coming from every direction.
After 1 1/2 hrs Marilyn has covered 2 1/4 miles with calm water. She is now entering rougher open water and may slow down. Water temp is still 68F with air temp 65F. Stroke rate is at 63 strokes per minute that is a little faster than the usual 60.
Marilyn started at 12:25am on September 12 from Santa Cruz Island. We are in the lee of the island so water is calm and warm at 68F and air was 62F. Its cloudy with no light at all. There were small pelagic red crabs in the water that will mature into langostinos. They are harmless.

We are leaving port from Oxnard CA at 7:00 pm. We have to cross Santa Barbara Channel to the island of Santa Cruz where the swim will begin. Its windy cool and overcast. Waves are coming from 2 directions south and west. They are 2 to 3 feet and supposed to decrease by the time we arrive at Santa Cruz Island. Water temp is in mid 60s.

Ready to swim tonight

Captain Dawn says the weather tonight is good. A bit of wind causing 2 foot swells but quite swimmable. The water temperature is 65 to 66 deg F, which is the same as in July. The air will be on the cool side overnight at 62 and maybe hitting 68 deg F. in the day if the fog clears. Fortunately, the fog is more like a cloud layer and visibility is at least a kilometer.
Captain Alicia will be manning the binoculars. I'm relieved to have her as assistant Captain because she is the one who spotted the shark the last time.
The boat is the Fusee, which means firecracker. In a happy coincidence, she is almost identical to my lead sailboat on Lake Superior, except she is 2 feet shorter, a 38 foot Beneteau.
